This book is set mainly in Brazil and it follows orphaned Maia Fielding. When Maia hears that she has distant relatives living in Brazil, she decides to travel to there from England with a governess.
But it turns out her relatives aren't as nice as she imagined...
Along the way she dodges danger and meets new and exciting creatures, and of course, has the chance to encounter gorgeous scenery.
If you like adventure and travelling, you will love this book. I think it is more suited for kids 9-13 years.
